Request a Proposal

What is an RFP?

Okay, so now you have decided that you do need a website. You also want to outsource the project. What do you do next? If you are the typical entrepreneur, you probably place a few calls and pop the question, "We want a company website, can you send me a proposal?"

This document that you are asking for is what we call a Request for Proposal or RFP. More often than not, you will end up with so many proposals which do not really match your needs, if not overpriced. Ideally, you should draft the RFP yourself and send it out to candidate contractors.

An RFP typically involves more than the price and often includes specifications of the website functions. If you already have a website and want a redesign project, you may also include the limitations of your current website that you wish to address to become more aligned with your business objectives or marketing strategy. The more detailed the specifications, the better the chances that the proposals you will receive will be accurate.
